Marketing is dedicated to creating recall and memory. An ad not remembered is ineffective; a product not branded lacks identity and personality.
A person's life is a compilation of knowledge gained, relationships fostered, wisdom earned, and experiences gleaned over a lifetime. Alzheimers robs indivduals of all that -- erasing their memories and identity from their own minds.
Plaza principals have experienced the loss of a person through Alzheimers. We have felt the void of erased memories and hope to see the end of this disease that robs people of their most intimate insights -- knowledge about who they are and their importance in this world

The Girl Effect
Through the Central Asia Institute (CAI), we discovered The Girl Effect, co-sponsored by the Nike Foundation and many other great charitable foundations. Check out their video.
As CAI writes on their website, “Girls are the most likely agents of change, but they are often invisible in their societies and to our media.”
The Girl Effect site adds: “Girls in poverty are the hardest to reach of all populations.”Education
Central Asia Institute
It was the discount clothing retailer Sy Syms who had the famous advertising line “An educated consumer is our best customer.” Without an education to give one perspective, marketing can be a dangerous discipline turning political marketing into propaganda, solicting innocent young people to dangerous sites and events, and enticing poor people to spend money unwisely.
Marketing is only as moral as the people who use it, and truth is not always apparent when marketing is inappropriately used by the unethical. The only defense is education.
In life, there is no substitution for an education. It’s why Plaza is proud to support the Central Asia Institute, dedicated to “promoting peace with books not bombs.” If you haven’t already, please read 3 Cups of Tea or his newest book Stones into Schools both featuring the work of Greg Mortenson.
